Preppy Boy's Bedroom
This little boy's bedroom was completely transformed just in time for him to move out of the nursery upon the arrival of his baby brother. We planned the room around the double bed, making sure there will be room to grow, since little boys grow fast! Knowing that the floor plan of the room is going to work for years to come is a great opportunity to invest in furniture that will last.
Here are the before pictures of the bedroom right after it was painted in this soft neutral grey.

The after pictures show how we layered textures and patterns. The stripe rugby duvet cover was a must from Pottery Barn, so we took that as the jumping off point for the room. On the bed we also added the plaid Ralph Lauren pillows to give the room depth and interest with a different pattern.
The room was quite large and we wanted to anchor the bed and determine the difference between the sleeping area and the play area. To do this we placed an area rug in neutral greys under the bed.
To add a sense of wit to the room we did an alphabet wall in all different sized letters purchased from different places. The mismatched letters give a carefree, relaxed feeling to the room.
We went with simple Ikea Hemnes nightstands because they were the perfect fit for the space. Since there wasn’t too much surface area on the top of each night stand we thought we could free up some space and hang swing wall lamps for style and practicality.
Even though the windows have California shutters, I loved adding depth and added coverage with these simple side panels. We had these black out Ikea panels shorted to the perfect length to give it a more custom look.
The light fixture was handmade by my client's friend and fits the theme of the room perfectly.
Adding the Ikea picture frame shelves to hold books is a must have in nurseries and kid's rooms. It is a perfect way to display a bunch of books and things and save space.
The teepee in the corner is the little boy’s favourite. We layered in pillows and sheep skins to make it a warm and inviting place for him to take a nap, hang out with friends or even chill out and read a book. We completed the teepee with twinkle lights to make it a little extra special.
By the large window in the middle of the room we made sure there were buckets for his toys, a place for guests to sit and also a fun rocking horse to add to the design.
I hope you all enjoyed this Preppy Boy’s Room makeover. Stay tuned as there are lots more projects on the way!
Cheers,
Kendra
