High-class Budget Friendly Basement Bathroom
The cost of finishing a basement can add up quick and when it comes to a basement bathroom a lot of people will tend to pick up whatever they can find at their local home improvement store. Most of the time the bathroom gets overlooked and it just doesn't get the same attention because it's in the basement. A bathroom is kind of a necessity! And generally a basement bathroom ends up getting used quite a bit... so why not pick some timeless, classic materials that will make sure you don't get that drab basement bathroom look. Take a little bit of extra time, give it some thought and do a little research and you can spend the same amount of money you would at a generic store but get a great, high-end look. A good designer knows how to mix the highs and lows in order to get a classy look that doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg.
This basement was in process of being finished and this house is a new build so the rough in were already in for the shower and toilet. Therefore, the layout of the bathroom was established giving this project a good start.

The pictures aren't the best because it is a basement and I don't have any natural light. Plus, I didn't want to use a flash or it would wash everything out. But now that you've seen the finished product let me tell you about some of the materials we used.
The vanity we picked up at Home Hardware in stock for less than $200, so that was a bargain! Then we toped it with a honed marble remnant piece of stone from a local countertop place. They supplied the sink and custom fit the whole countertop so it fit perfectly on top of the vanity and against the wall. Since we saved on the vanity we were able to spend a little extra on the countertop and sink.
The faucet was an in stock option as well at Home Hardware, which means it is a high quality faucet that costs a lot less. This faucet is from the company Grohe and it was only $139. It's better to get a more traditional looking faucet since it always gives the bathroom a more high-end look when you are buying a faucet at this price point.
The floors are the best part of the whole bathroom. We went with marble and glass basket weave tile from Lowes. If you follow me on Instgram you might have seen this picture a while back. By finding this at Lowes we saved a whole bunch, it was only $5.09 a square foot!
The basket weave floor tile goes so well with a inexpensive, white subway tile for the shower. I found the white subway tile at a local tile shop for $1.90sqft, which was cheaper than the big box store. Another bonus!
I picked up the light fixture from Union Lighting in Toronto. Again, a reasonable pice with a high-end look.
The wall sconces were installed on either side of the mirror. The simple white framed mirror is from Home Depot, it is fog free and perfect for a smaller bathroom.
Heres another after picture... I love how all the layers of white, paired with the soft, grey-blue walls combined to create this classic look.
The picture frames above the toilet are from Walmart if can you believe it... Pretty classy for Walmart! They are polished nickel with a nice white matting. Then I printed images off the computer to put in the frame. They look fantastic and expensive but really only cost $19.99 per frame!
The fresh white peonies were the perfect flower to finish off this beautiful white, basement bathroom.
The toilet paper holder and towel bar are from Home Hardware, made by Umbra.
