Cottage Basement
We're back with the last room at the cottage (#projecttait for those who have been following along on Instagram) that I helped put some finishing touches on!
The basement was recently redone by the cottage owners, it was formerly a garage! Now it has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and large living space. They did a great job finishing it and giving it the traditional northern rustic cottage vibe.
They requested more seating in the basement for their large family and I thought that to tie this northern cottage theme together we needed to add some bright, cottage red.
I couldn't think of a better way to use red then in two plaid wing chairs! I found this fabric from Robert Allen and decided it was perfect for this basement. I had the wing chairs piped with a solid linen-like fabric and then I used the same sold red from the piping to make two throw pillows for each sofa.
Bringing the red onto each sofa allows the eye to follow around the room and created repetition and balance.
I can't believe what a difference it has made by adding two wing chairs to fill the space and more pattern and colour.

The red pillows are much better for this space and they complete the look the owners wanted for their cottage.
This is the last room in the cottage for now... but there might be a kitchen makeover that could soon be in the works here. So make sure to follow along on Instagram and Facebook. :)
Sincerely,
Kendra
